SUMMARY:Feeling the Heat: Stories and Strategies for Western Australia's Rising Temperatures
DESCRIPTION:With record-breaking global temperatures on the rise\, we’re feeling the heat now more than ever. What does this mean for our health? Who is the most vulnerable? And what can be done to help us prepare for\, and mitigate\, high heat? \nJoin the Conservation Council of WA’s Go Beyond Gas movement and the Western Australian Council of Social Service for a discussion of the health and social impacts of climate-fueled high heat and heat waves. We will delve into key concerns around high heat and heat waves and strategic methods of adaptation and mitigation. \nThis will include personal stories from those with lived experience of high heat as well as policy recommendations and initiatives for local government. Of course\, we can’t talk about the heat we’re feeling without addressing what’s fuelling it. We’ll be providing resources and next steps to address the climate crisis too. \nOur panel will feature representative speakers from Doctors for the Environment Australia and the Bureau of Meteorology\, alongside a lived experience advocate. \nThe panel will be followed by a Q&A\, where you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions about preparing for – and turning down – the heat. \nIn the face of significant challenges\, this will be a hopeful dialogue centered on solutions. Come and join us for this conversation.
